Migrating data in Invicti Enterprise On-Premises

This document is for:
Invicti Enterprise On-Premises

While using Invicti Enterprise On-Premises, you may need to move to a new server. In that case, you can migrate your existing scan data and database. Doing so requires you to take careful steps.

There are three stages for this process:

  1. Back up your database.
  2. Back up Invicti Enterprise’s data.
  3. Re-Install Invicti Enterprise On-Premises onto the new server.
  4. Transfer the backup files to the new server.

This instruction assumes that you installed Invicti Enterprise On-Premises to the default location, which is C:\Program Files (x86). If not, please change the relevant step in the instruction accordingly.

Make sure that you have administrator privileges to carry out the data migration.

Step 1. Backing up database

In order to migrate to a new server and continue using Invicti Enterprise On-Premises with your existing data, you need to back up your database, first. To do so, you have to follow the instructions here.

If your database is in the cloud environment, you do not need to backup your database. You only need to provide the connection details while re-installing Invicti Enterprise On-Premises.

Step 2. Backing up your scan data, report policies, and logs

Once you back up your database, you can back up your scan data, report policies, and logs.

  1. Press the Windows logo key  + E.
  2. Paste the following address into the address bar: C:\Program Files (x86)\Invicti Enterprise Web Application\App_Data
  3. Select Scan Data, Report Policies, and Logs folders.
  4. Back up the said files.

Step 3. Re-installing Invicti Enterprise On-Premises

You need to have a fresh install of Invicti Enterprise On-Premises. To do this, follow the instructions in Installing and Configuring Invicti Enterprise On-Premises.

Before the fresh installation, restore the database into the new system if your database was not in the cloud environment.

During the installation, Invicti Enterprise On-Premises prompts you to enter details about your database. You can enter the new data source, database name, etc. during the installation.

Starting from Invicti Enterprise On-Premises 2.2, the installation wizard creates a secret key to encrypt your data. If you encrypted your data using the On-Premises 2.2, Invicti Enterprise asks you to enter the secret key during the reinstallation. For further information, see Encryption Settings.

For further information, see Configuring Invicti Enterprise Web Application Server Using the Installation Wizard.

Step 4. Transferring copied data

After installing the Invicti Enterprise On-Premises, you need to restore the scan data, report policies, and logs to your new environment.

  2. Paste the following address into the address bar: C:\Program Files (x86)\Invicti Enterprise Web Application\App_Data
