This document describes what a website is in Invicti Platform and how it differs from a target.

Website Discovery

In the context of Invicti Platform, the term website specifically relates to the Website Discovery feature. For more information on Website discovery, refer to the Introduction to Discovery document.

Websites

A Website refers to a website or web application identified by the scanner as a potential asset of your organization. These entries are displayed only in the Website discovery list.

Since websites are considered potential—rather than confirmed—assets, your interaction with them is limited. You can:

• Exclude a website from the list if it is not part of your organization.
• Create a Target from the website if it is confirmed as your asset.

Targets

A Target is a confirmed asset—such as a website or web application—that can be scanned for vulnerabilities and further configured. For more information on targets, refer to the What is a target document.
